Recently I made a trip to Las Vegas, the city of sin. I was lucky enough to squeeze in a quick 15 holes late one afternoon at Las Vegas National. The 18th hole was featured in the movie “Casino” with Joe Pesci. I had a really good time, I was paired with two other golf junkies like myself. The course is one of the oldest in the town and hosted a PGA tour event (Las Vegas Invitational) for 20 years up to 1996 when Tiger Woods won his first tournament as a pro. I dialed in all my Tiger like shots this afternoon coming in 2 or 3 over for 15 holes. Not bad considering I was using rental clubs and had never seen this course before. I could tell the bones of the course were really good. Small undulating greens, tiny landing area off the tee, but like so many courses that “used” to hold PGA tour events it was now too short. 6,700 yards and par 72. That would equate to a par 68 in todays PGA tour, where they play courses around 7200-7400 yards.

Most all courses in Las Vegas have a view of the “Strip” and Las Vegas National is no exception, its located about 1 mile from the city of lights main area. It was a really cool evening as the sun was setting over the strip the lights from the Casino’s were beginning to light up the sky. In particular there was a green glow from MGM Grand and the Winn and Encore had a beautiful Gold glow. One can’t help but to think of the countless fortunes that have been made and lost in this city. Cash is easy to win and easier to loose, it could be the roll of a die, push of a button or the bounce of a ball that make or break you in Las Vegas.

A few courses highlights from my trip that caught my eye but I didn’t play were Arroyo, and Siena golf clubs. They are a part of the Red Rock CC group. These two beauties are 15 min from the strip. They have great city views, and are true lush green desert courses. The best view of the strip comes at Bal Hali, a top 100 course in America. Bal Hali backs up to the Mandalay Bay Casino, and has all the amenities including walking caddies.

Vegas is a great place to play golf there are so many options from $35 at Durango Hills, Rhodes Ranch at $100 or Desert Pines at $169 there is a course at your price range and most courses are within 20 minutes of the strip. When you book your next Las Vegas golf trip be sure to look at Tee-Links.com for the best rates in the web.

Myrtle Beach a Great Golf Experience!

Leopards Chase…

A Tim Cate design was ranked by Golf Magazine as #7 Best New Course in America 2007. It is one of the Four “Big Cat” golf courses that Ocean Ridge Plantation offers and it is located 20 minutes north of Myrtle Beach. This course offers not only perfect conditions but it has a ton of Character. If you love golf course architecture like I do then you will love the sculpted bunkers around the greens. The greens have false fronts and false sides so a well-positioned ball is rewarded. This course has great finishing holes the par 3 16th has massive bunker on the short right side, you hit over a grassy ravine and the green has many challenging pin positions. The 17is a long 580 par five that makes you hit three really good shots before you get to have a look at birdie. The 18 hole has a “Trump” like elevated green surrounded by a waterfall. This is a course that you won’t forget.

The Wizard…

One of the three Mystical Golf courses. Others include Man-O-War, and the Witch. The Wizard is a must play for three reasons the clubhouse is literally a medieval castle. The 18 hole might be the best in all of Myrtle Beach. The fairway is cut down the middle of a lake with water on both sides. The green is an island shaped that also sticks way out into the middle of the lake resembling the 17 at TPC Sawgrass. The Third reason is the course is in perfect condition. If you like fast greens that are responsive and challenging then the Wizard is a must play in Myrtle Beach.

The International World Tour…

This unique experience is a tour around the world playing re-created holes from St. Andrews the 1st,18th (10,11,12) Amen Corner at Augusta National, TPC Sawgrass 17th, Cypress Point #10, The final Hole at Winged Foot(East) and many more. They offer 27 holes and they are all Championship caliber. The course is perfectly manicured and the greens are smooth and fast. The World Tour is top-notch golf and great facilities.

Carolina National…

The only Fred Couples design golf courses in the Carolina’s. I love this course because it’s out there. There are hardly any homes on the course. It is quiet; there are beautiful marsh views, lots of wild life, exotic birds, Alligators and deer. You can hear the echo of your golf shots rattling though the tall pine trees. There are 3 nine-hole courses suitable for all levels of golfer. Carolina National has very nice manicured fairways and greens. The Tips reach 7000 yards and they offer great customer service. A must play for Myrtle Beach area golf!

And if your looking to get the best tee-time or travel deals then check out tee-links.com for incredible prices and specials. Tee-links has strong partnerships with the top golf clubs and resorts so you are guaranteed to get the best price.

Few sports enthusiasts spend as much time in the sun as golfers. After all, part of the appeal of the game is that it takes place in the great outdoors, with abundant sunshine and wonderful weather. But all that sunshine can come with a price, and it is up to golfers everywhere to protect themselves from the damaging rays of the sun as much as possible.

Unfortunately, many golfers fail to take sun protection seriously. Some weekend golfers may feel that being out in the sun for a few hours and a quick round of golf does not warrant any kind of sun protection. Others may simply forget to bring sunscreen along when they pack up for a day on the links. But no matter what the reason, that lack of sun protection can have dire consequences. By now the link between sun exposure and deadly skin cancers is well known, and golfers who play without sun protection do so at great risk.

The good news is that there are plenty of ways for golfers to protect themselves when they head out to their favorite courses. One of the simplest and most effective solutions is to simply slather on the sunscreen before leaving home. For added protection, golfers can bring an extra tube of sunscreen along and pack it in the golf cart.

Golfers can also choose from a wide array of hats, scarves and other clothing items designed specifically for sun protection. Sports apparel companies have created special golf caps that not only reflect the harmful rays of the sun but feature built-in sun protection as well. These hats look great on the course, and they have the added benefit of shielding your eyes from the sun while you play.

Modern golf shirts can provide even more sun protection. Specially designed fabrics provide golfers with a way to stay cool in even the hottest weather while enjoying top notch sun protection at the same time. If you love to golf, it is a good idea to stack your summer wardrobe with an assortment of these specialty golf shirts.

It is of course a good idea to keep that sunscreen handy as well, even if you already have your sun-reflecting golf hat and specially designed golf shirt. Properly applied sunscreen helps to protect your face, hands and arms from the sun, something that even the best golf clothing cannot do.

Sun protection is an essential part of the game of golf, and it is up to you to protect yourself while you play. Knowing that you are protected can make the game more fun, and allow you to play even more often.

1. It’s not all about length. Many amateur golfers make the mistake of thinking that hitting the ball farther is better. This is not always the case. A lot of amateur golfers struggle with shots 100 yards and in. These shots typically force golfers to take three-quarter swings, or half swings with their pitching and sand wedges. It’s difficult to control your swing speed, and when you’re this close to the green, every little bit matters. So, if you drive the ball 265 yards and you find yourself on 320 yard par-four, put the driver back in the bag and try hitting your 200 yard club. It would leave you 120 yards out and you could hit a comfortable full shot with a pitching wedge or nine-iron instead of trying to control your swing speed.

2. Get a high degree lob wedge. As mentioned above a lot of golfers struggle with the 100 yard in shot. So, find a wedge that you can hit about 75 yards with a full swing. This might be a 60, 58, or 56-degree wedge, depending on your swing speed. Now, you have a club you can be comfortable with when you find yourself closer to the green. You still may have to control your swing speed on these clubs with shots inside 75 yards, but you will get more loft under the ball, allowing it to hold the green even if you miss hit it a little bit. Just be sure to stay down on the ball, you don’t want to hit this club thin and burn one across the green.

3. The kind of ball you play does matter. Again, many amateur golfers buy the cheapest balls they can get, thinking that it doesn’t matter what kind of ball they use. It does matter, specially if your handicap is a 14 or less. Some balls are made to go far and not spin much, some balls are made to spin a lot and not go very far, and some balls are a happy medium of the two. If you have plenty of length but you slice a lot or have a hard time getting the ball to stick on the green, try a softer ball. Soft balls may sacrifice a few yards off your game but they give you more control over the ball and are better around the green. If you hit the ball straight but want to add some length, try a harder distance type of ball to add a couple of yards. The key is to experiment with different balls and see which one fits your game the best.

4. Buy a bucket of range balls, but don’t tee them up. Instead, take them to the practice green. The green is where most people leave a lot of strokes. A 300 yard drive counts the same as a 4 foot par putt, and if you are familiar with missing 4-footers then you know the feeling. Practice putting from 4 feet out until you make 90% of your putts, then move back a few feet. This will help you create a mental model of your swing speed for each distance as well as help you with reading greens. It’s important to take putts from every angle to see different breaks and slopes in the green and adjust your speed accordingly. After you’re content with how your putting is going, break out the wedges and get those locked in too. Once you’ve spent a considerable amount of time on the green, then go to the range and work on your irons. Even on the range, don’t waste a whole bucket hitting driver. At most you will probably hit your driver 14 times a round. How many times will you hit your pitching wedge or seven-iron? Something to think about.

5. Relax Golf is suppose to be a relaxing game, so just take a deep breath, ease up on the grip, and hit a nice easy shot. You can still be competitive with your friends and enjoy the game at the same time.

Las Vegas is synonymous with parties, casinos, high end shopping and entertainment of almost every kind. In Vegas there is fun for friends and families. What most of you may not know is that Vegas is also a very popular destination for professional as well as amateur golfers. It is home to some famous golf courses like TPC, Legacy golf club, Angel Park, Bear’s Best, Bali Hai, Desert Pines, Dragon Ridge Country Club, Paiute Golf Resort to name just a few.

Each golf club is designed with intent to play marvelous golf, challenge skill levels and experience the grandeur of Vegas at the same time. For example The Legacy Golf Club designed by Arthur Hills has tee boxes in the shape of hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs to let you know where you are playing golf!! For those who would rather leave the cards for the tables, the premier course of Dragon Ridge Country Club has a Scottish design with the 18th hole offering a backdrop of the famous Vegas strip. It is also host to PGA events and has a remarkable practice area.

If your style is playing designer golf on a signature golf course then head to Bear’s Best. This strip has holes replicated from places like Arizona and Montana. The last nine holes are challenging stretching into the foothills. If you want to really challenge your brains with a round of golf and at the same time have views of the strip, there are the Spring Mountains and the Red Rock Mountains with tiered greens and waterfalls – It has to be the Sienna Golf club. An experience you are going to cherish.

The Bali Hai golf club gives the high rollers of Vegas a tropical golf experience. Located on the Vegas strip this classy club is among USA’s top 40 resort courses. A championship course, it tests your skill level to the tee!! It also has a high end golf shop selling apparel and equipment for both men and women. Playing at Bali Hai will surely be the highlight of your vacation, if you are game for it.

A golf vacation in Vegas means you can swing your clubs at picturesque golf courses during the day and can hit the casinos and parties by night. Planning a golf vacation is easy and bookings can be done through a golf vacation planner. You will be assured of getting the best deals on the block suited to your budget and can also book more than one course if you are addicted to the game. Golf vacations do not mean you need to leave your families behind. They can also enjoy the other experiences that the resort or even head out for some shopping, sightseeing or other adventure sports that Vegas has to offer.

Heading to Vegas means you are going to get the best of all worlds – literally. Golfing, gaming, partying, fine dining, high end shopping. Everything you wanted in that relaxing and rejuvenating break of yours. So the next time you think golf and fun Vegas should be high on your cards.

Blaming your moves, shots and swings for your golf mishits and mishaps? Well, no matter how much time and effort you have been spending over practicing your moves to perfect your game, you still won’t achieve your goal if you use unsuitable or defective types of golf equipment, will you?

Now is high time for you to consider the following golf tips that involve checking on your equipment’s quality.

If you plan to choose used golfclubs as beginner’s tools, scrutinizing before purchasing is a must. The clubheads, the shafts, and the grips are golfclub parts that should pass inspection first before landing a decent spot in your golf equipment cabinet. Another excellent golf tip that will get you through the game is making sure that the set of used golfclubs you’re eyeing have set consistency. It will also help a lot if you check first the price of new clubs vs. used.

A golf tip for a golfer that plans to regrip his clubs: Be cautious. This is because the grips are the only contact points one can access to affect the shot. Before carrying out the regripping, know the core grip of the club and your hands grip size. To determine your core size grip, measure the diameter of the butt of the shaft you’re going to re-grip. The shaft’s diameter should match the grip’s core diameter. In determining your hands grip, the available size grips are regular, mid-size, oversize and jumbo. Use only the best re-gripping materials that will provide optimum performance for your golf clubs.

Another golf tip or advice is that using ill-fitted clubs will be an obstacle to your golf playing success. A golfer must consider his or her body type in choosing the best-fitting equipment to support and deliver his backswings efficiently. Too steep angles in carrying out backswings may be avoided if one selects the perfect fitting equipment available.

Custom golfclub fitting makes a better option than just buying new golf clubs. Getting custom fitting golfclubs is a golf tip that translates to a very worthy investment. The uniqueness of each person is attributed to the need of this way of buying new golf clubs. A custom fitting produces golfclubs that specifically suit the height, strength, swing characteristics and clubhead speed of the golfer.

The type of club shaft also helps in predicting whether you’ll do good in a game or you won’t. There’s a choice between a steel club shaft and a graphite-made club shaft. This golf tip aims to make you realize which type of golfclub shaft will benefit your game. Observations tell that the steel club shafts are more preferred by professional golfers while graphite shafts become more popular with women, senior players and beginners. Steel shafts are less expensive than graphite shafts though.

One more golf tip that could help you is that the golf clubs that must be the main content of your bag must suit your skill level. Since various skill levels need various golf clubs, it won’t be wise to just use or bring a golf club that is just lying around. And, don’t ever forget about the maximum golfclub load your bag is allowed to hold. You can only bring 14 golf clubs in your bag. No more. No less. Aside from your skill level contemplation, your mastery of a certain golfclub and your being comfortable with using it must also be put into consideration in deciding which golfclub to hit.

A good combination of the right moves and good choice of equipment will better arm you to become the best golfer you could ever be.

Do you want nothing but the best golf tips for beginners? Even some of the better golfers in the game, do forget this from time to time You’ve arrived to the right destination! There is no argument that golf is very popular. It may not be regarded as an Olympic sports discipline, but whenever there is a big tournament, you can expect to see a lot of people follow the games both in the course and on television. You can be just as good as the pros someday, IF you follow these golf tips for beginners.

Golf in not about hitting the ball with the most power. If you do that it is not a guarantee that it’ll land anyway near the hole. Golf is not about luck, but about developing the proper technique. Your own unique technique. However there are conditions that we will never be able to control like for an example wind and obstacles – but we can get darn close on a good day!

And now for the first of your golf tips for beginners. Tip #1:

To develop a good, almost perfect and consistent golf swing, your need to learn to master controlling your body, in every little detail. It’s not all about power, but also about the so called ‘recoil effect’.

Well how do you learn to make this recoil effect work? This is done by keeping your body steady when you start from your right to the left. There are various aids to help you out , like working with a heavier club, get a friend to watch you, practicing in front of the mirror and recording how you swing with a video camera and playing it back.

The second tip of my golf tips for beginners is as follows:

While making your swing, be sure to RELAX in your hands as you turn. If you don’t relax while hitting the ball, you use a lot of unnecessary power, which could easily lead to an injury. We often see that…

To make this work, remember that the arms are an extension of something bigger because the power does not come from here but from your abs and hips which happen to be two are the largest muscles in the body.

Third tip

Make it a habbit to always hit the golf ball in the origin. That is how to divert it to the direction you want it to go. So you know where the ball is going, keep your eyes on the ball until you send it flying through the air.

In golf people always think that the upper body does all the hard work. Even some golfers think that. This is absolute bull**** – for an example you need to pay attention to the position and movement of your feet. You must stand flat on the ground, in order to be able to transfer the power from right to left as you hit.

The golf tips for beginners mentioned aren’t hard to understand. It just takes a bit of practice so that you are able to maintain consistency each time it is your turn to putt on the green.

Just remember that when you make the first putt, you must have a relaxed grip on the club with your feet flat on the ground so you are able to swing from the right to the left with a good back swing and follow through.
